Against the Line College Football Betting System Since there are always a litany of questions to how we arrive at our weekly picks, here is a little bit about "Our System." The system uses a number of variables and statistics to approximate a total for each game on the Division 1A college football weekly schedule. Some of the items that are included in our model are:
There are more items as well, but the above make up the predominant part of our weighting of each game. Once the analysis has been conducted, and the approximate totals generated, we are left with something that looks like this:
Then our handicapping team takes a look at the numbers compared to the spread and situation, and makes a call. If the spread on this game was around two TDs, say at -13.5 for Team A, we would analyze based on that. So in this situation we see the team should cover the line and have a few points to spare, but with the game "AT" Team B, we have to look at how favorable a home field advantage Team B has, and also consider any situation Team A might have. Is their a big rivalry game next week either team may look ahead to? How is the weather forecasted for Saturday? What injuries might make an impact that the numbers in the model cannot adequately consider? Once we have gone through all the considerations, John makes the final call of whether to put the game up as one of the weekly picks or whether to move on to the next game for consideration.
